Vintage Design
French Empire secretary à abattant with a two-door base, two wide drawers and a flat writing flap surrounded by smooth full columns with fire-gilt bronze capitals and bases. The bureau is veneered in mahogany and elegantly accentuated by fine fire-gilt applications. These include mascarons on the sides, caryatids, large fittings as escutcheons and two figurative reliefs on the lower doors. The writing surface is covered in green leather. The interior is veneered in light maple and consists of a total of ten drawers grouped around the central compartment. This is marked at the corners by four further columns. The back panel is mirrored. The secretary has been extensively restored and polished by hand.
